Hey folks, I need your input. I have been working on the book “The Provocative God: Radical Things God Has Said and Done”. Hopefully it will be available at the end of August. In the meantime I need to pick the cover art for the book. So that is where you come in. I have a few options and decided to make a poll. Check out the covers and then vote on your favorite. You can double click on each individual cover to enlarge it for a better look. Then just click on the poll below to indicate your favorite. Also, it would be great to get your comments/impressions so feel free to write something in the comment section. When the book comes out, one person who left a comment will get a free copy. They will be selected by me in a totally capricious manner, just because I can. Oh and if you don’t like any of them, pick #4.
Thanks
Dan
Hey Dan!
Great covers. I voted for #1, cause it’s the most appealing to me. The other two are too ‘standard’. Cover 1 needs some work on the fonts, though.
Thanks Wilbert. I appreciate the feedback. Maybe you can be our Dutch Distributer. 🙂
Love cover #1! It definitely makes me even more intrigued about the book.
Cover #1…why?…because I find it to be provocative…
I picked cover 1, which I like as is, but would like even more if the subtext “Radical Things God Has Said And Done” were the same font as “The” and “God” rather than “Provocative”. In my (humble) opinion, it’s the subtext/subtitle that really gets me excited about the book, and so would make more sense for that portion to be readable from a far distance–so that it might catch someone’s eye in the bookstore, for example.
Hi Dan. I also voted for No. 1 as the most interesting of all three. However, reflecting upon the title, you might want to consider the use of a blood red hue on the imagery of the crown. Blood is provocative.
The Word became flesh; and (in my heart of hearts) I believe if I took a scissor and cut any page of Scripture it would bleed the blood of Christ. Jesus is seen throughout the Old and New Testaments.
God does provoke us and desires all to come to a saving knowledge of His Blessed Son: “For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life.” – Leviticus 17:11
I also agree with Wilbert on stylizing the fonts.
…The words “Provocative God”, alone, draw me in. Curiosity is sparked, bringing the desire to further explore the cover. The blood red color of the word “Provocative”, to me, signifies the importance of the blood, in God’s most provocative plan for mankind….
Don’t like any of them but if I had to choose it would be #3. How about a pic of a man overturning the money tables in the Temple since that was probably the Son of God’s most provactive scene in the New Testament. But since you can’t make pictures of God, maybe just pictures of the overturned tables with looks of shock, anger, and hatred on the faces of the Money-changers.
Hey PD-
I voted for cover number 1 but it needs a little tweaking. The P in provocative gets lost on the crown… so some adjustment probably should be made. The other two looked to sterile… kind of like those white tables – lol!
Sorry Pastor Dan, but I voted number four. What audience you are trying to reach? Option one seemed painful and was difficult on my eyes. Option two seemed generic and option three brought back memories of the movie City of Angels with Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan. The title certainly has me intrigued and look forward to reading the content!
